SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 691

In Memory

of

John Peacock Sr.

WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew

to a close with the passing of John Claiborne Peacock Sr. of Hooks

on February 22, 2025, at the age of 79; and

WHEREAS, The son of Dr. Norman Whaley Peacock and Alfie

Taliaferro Peacock, John Peacock was born in Texarkana,

Arkansas, on November 25, 1945, and he grew up in Ashdown with the

companionship of his brothers; and

WHEREAS, Blessed with a devoted family, Mr. Peacock shared

a fulfilling marriage with his wife, Linda, and he took great

pride in his children, Nancy and John; over the years, he had the

pleasure of seeing his family grow to include numerous

grandchildren and a great-grandchild; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Peacock enjoyed a rewarding career in civil

service logistics management; he served in the U.S. Air Force

during the Vietnam War, and he also supported his nation as a

civilian during the Iraqi conflict; a man of faith, he was a

valued member of Beverly Heights Church of Christ in Hooks;

during his leisure hours, he took pleasure in woodworking, caring

for his pets, and spending time with loved ones; and

WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his family, his faith, and his

country, John Peacock earned the lasting respect and admiration

of all who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of John Claiborne

Peacock Sr. and extend heartfelt sympathy to all who mourn his

passing; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns

this day, it do so in memory of John Peacock.
