SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 705
WHEREAS, Jonathan Ledesma of the Mineola High School boys'
soccer team wrote his name into the history books with his
exceptional performance during the 2024-2025 season; and
WHEREAS, Showcasing a rare combination of speed and
strength, Mr. Ledesma scored 51 goals over 19 games in his senior
campaign, the most by any scholastic soccer player in Texas on
the year; often facing double-team and even triple-team defenses
from frustrated opponents, he worked himself into scoring
position time and again, leading the Yellowjackets to the
bi-district championship of the University Interscholastic
League 4A playoffs; his 51 scores topped all classifications in
the state and ranked third nationally, and his 2.7 goals per
match easily eclipsed the national average of 0.5 in that
category; he also recorded 17 assists; and
WHEREAS, After starting for two years as a member of the
Rockport-Fulton High School soccer squad, Mr. Ledesma
transferred to Mineola for his junior season; the midfielder has
committed to continue his athletic career at Nelson University in
Waxahachie, with the ultimate goal of competing professionally
in Major League Soccer; and
WHEREAS, Through his skill, determination, and unwavering
commitment to excellence, Jonathan Ledesma has become a source of
great pride to his many supporters in the Mineola community, and
he is indeed deserving of recognition for his accomplishments on
the soccer field; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
Legislature, hereby congratulate Jonathan Ledesma on scoring the
most goals at the scholastic soccer level in Texas for the
2024-2025 season and extend to him sincere best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
prepared for Mr. Ledesma as an expression of high regard from the
Texas Senate.
