LONG TITLE
General Description:
This resolution expresses support for the advanced nuclear manufacturing industry and
declares the state's desire to have nuclear manufacturing done in the state.

expresses Utah's desire to have nuclear manufacturing done in Utah;
expresses Utah's commitment to helping technology companies overcome challenges
regarding safety in manufacturing, transportation, and waste management; and
signals that Utah is committed to fostering the development of technical solutions to
remaining challenges.

Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
WHEREAS, advanced nuclear manufacturing presents significant economic and
technological opportunities for the state of Utah;
WHEREAS, recycling spent nuclear fuel through innovative technologies represents a
valuable opportunity;
WHEREAS, valuable isotopes, including medical isotopes, are found in spent nuclear fuel;
WHEREAS, the isotopes in spent fuel for use in nuclear batteries have greater value than
fuel, despite their tiny mass compared to reusable fuel;
WHEREAS, innovative companies are developing technology to extract these valuable
isotopes;
WHEREAS, some of these innovative companies have already established operations in
Utah; and
WHEREAS, Utah has an opportunity to foster the development of technical solutions to the
remaining challenges in the nuclear manufacturing industry:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
Governor concurring therein, declares state support for the advanced nuclear manufacturing
industry and expresses Utah's desire to have nuclear manufacturing done in Utah.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature and Governor express Utah's
commitment to helping technology companies overcome the remaining challenges regarding
safety of the nuclear industry in manufacturing, transportation, and waste management, and
signal that Utah welcomes innovative nuclear technology companies to the state.
