LONG TITLE
General Description:
This resolution authorizes the adult sentencing and supervision length guidelines and the
juvenile disposition guidelines.

establishes the date on which the authorized adult sentencing and supervision length
guidelines and juvenile disposition guidelines will take effect.

Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
WHEREAS, the Utah Sentencing Commission establishes and maintains the adult
sentencing and supervision length guidelines that provide recommendations for sentencing and
supervision for all criminal offenses and the juvenile disposition guidelines that provide
recommendations and clarifications for practices and procedures for juvenile dispositions;
WHEREAS, Utah Code Section
63M-7-406
requires the Legislature to annually authorize
the adult sentencing and supervision length guidelines and the juvenile disposition guidelines;
and
WHEREAS, the Utah Sentencing Commission submitted the adult sentencing and
supervision length guidelines and the juvenile disposition guidelines for authorization on
February 12, 2026:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature, the Governor concurring
therein, authorizes the adult sentencing and supervision length guidelines and juvenile
disposition guidelines submitted by the Utah Sentencing Commission on February 12, 2026.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the authorized adult sentencing and supervision length
guidelines and juvenile disposition guidelines shall take effect on May 6, 2026.
