An Act to permit the State Board of Social Services to promulgate regulations allowing local departments of social services to pay the reasonable funeral expenses of certain decedents.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1.
§ 1. The State Board of Social Services (the Board) may promulgate regulations to allow a local department of social services to pay the reasonable funeral expenses of a decedent who was a (i) recipient of public assistance or (ii) state resident receiving Supplemental Security Income, if adequate funding is available for a local department of social services to provide such burial assistance. The Board's initial adoption of regulations necessary to implement the provisions of this act shall be exempt from the provisions of the Administrative Process Act (§
2.2-4000
et seq. of the Code of Virginia).
