Requires each school board to report to the Department of Education annually the number and type of teacher, other instructional personnel, and support staff position exits in the school division, disaggregated by the race of the individual who exited the position. The bill also provides that for each such exit occurring during the reporting year, the reason for the exit, including whether the exit was voluntary or involuntary, shall be collected and reported. An Act to amend and reenact §
22.1-290.2
of the Code of Virginia, relating to teacher, other instructional personnel, and support staff position exits; data collection; disaggregation by race.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §
22.1-290.2
of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:
§
22.1-290.2
. Teacher, other instructional personnel, and support staff exits and vacancies; data.
A. Each school board shall report to the Department
of Education
annually the number and type of teacher, other instructional personnel, and support staff
position (i) exits, disaggregated by the race of the individual who exited the position, and (ii)
vacancies in the school division.
For each such exit occurring during the reporting year, the reason for the exit, including whether the exit was voluntary or involuntary, shall be collected and reported.
B. Each approved education preparation program shall report to the Department
of Education
annually the number of individuals who completed the program by endorsement area.
C. The Department
of Education
shall (i) establish deadlines for and the format of the reporting of the data pursuant to subsections A and B and (ii) aggregate and report such data annually on the Department's website.
