Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered
24.2-602.1
as follows:
§
24.2-602.1
. Electoral board members to wear identification; civil penalty.
The Department of Elections shall issue a standardized identification badge to the acting electoral board members of each locality. The badge shall be easily readable and include the name, position, locality, and term expiration date of each electoral board member. Electoral board members shall wear their Department-issued identification badge while conducting their official duties on the day of an election. If the State Board determines that an electoral board member has knowingly violated the provisions of this section, the State Board shall assess a civil penalty in an amount not to exceed $250.
