WHEREAS, Annie Lois Henderson-Jenkins, a vibrant member of the Stafford County community who dedicated her life to uplifting others, died on October 27, 2025; and
WHEREAS, a native of Anniston, Alabama, Annie Henderson-Jenkins worked as a line electrician for Stewart-Warner in Chicago, Illinois, where she earned accolades for her technical ability; and
WHEREAS, Annie Henderson-Jenkins settled in the Commonwealth with her family in 1985 and began a second career as a beautician, touching countless lives by helping her clients feel comfortable and confident; and
WHEREAS, a passionate advocate for civil rights and social justice, Annie Henderson-Jenkins worked tirelessly to advocate for members of the Black community and empower young women; and
WHEREAS, Annie Henderson-Jenkins also provided child care services to dozens of children over the years; she was a spiritual mother to many, imparting her compassion, warmth, and grace to the young people in her care; and
WHEREAS, predeceased by her husband of 59 years, John, Annie Henderson-Jenkins will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her children, Maurice, Joanne, and Kimberly, and their families, and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Annie Lois Henderson-Jenkins, a beloved community leader in Stafford County; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Annie Lois Henderson-Jenkins as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
