WHEREAS, Lloyd G. Edwards, Jr., a distinguished member of the Arlington County Fire Department who served the community for 22 years, died on May 5, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Lloyd Edwards answered his calling to become a firefighter on November 18, 2002, having graduated as a member of Recruit Class 58; and
WHEREAS, Lloyd Edwards exemplified the values of courage, commitment, and integrity throughout his career, serving and safeguarding the members of his community with distinction in the face of great personal risk and daily challenges; and
WHEREAS, firefighters face not only physical danger but also emotional and psychological burdens in the course of their duty, and Lloyd Edwards met these demands with quiet strength, humility, and professionalism; and
WHEREAS, Lloyd Edwards cultivated the respect and admiration of his peers and earned accolades for his steadfast dedication to the mission of public safety and emergency response; and
WHEREAS, Lloyd Edwards was a loyal friend and trusted mentor who encouraged everyone in the Arlington County Fire Department to continue developing their skills, live healthy lives, and serve the community to the utmost of their abilities; and
WHEREAS, the loss of Lloyd Edwards is deeply felt by the Arlington County community, and he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by numerous family members, friends, and colleagues in the Arlington County Fire Department; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Lloyd G. Edwards, Jr., a dedicated firefighter who made numerous contributions to the Arlington County community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Lloyd G. Edwards, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
