WHEREAS, for 150 years, Mount Zion Baptist Church of Triangle has provided its congregation with uplifting spiritual guidance, joyous occasions for worship and fellowship, and meaningful opportunities for community outreach; and
WHEREAS, Mount Zion Baptist Church has been led by a distinguished line of pastors and faith leaders, including its current pastor, the Reverend Dr. Alfred Jones, Jr., who has helped the congregation flourish during his tenure; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Mount Zion Baptist Church's ministries and charitable endeavors are the result of the steadfast support and tireless efforts of its members and the visionary leadership of its staff; and
WHEREAS, guided by love, compassion, and a call to serve, the congregation of Mount Zion Baptist Church has continued to grow in faith over the years while cultivating a deep appreciation for the church's history and heritage; and
WHEREAS, as a beacon of hope and faith for the community, Mount Zion Baptist Church has made a positive and lasting impact in Triangle and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Mount Zion Baptist Church of Triangle on the occasion of its 150th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mount Zion Baptist Church of Triangle as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the church's history and its contributions to Triangle and the Commonwealth.
