WHEREAS, Jane Pasolli Edmondson, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, esteemed civil servant, and cherished member of the Fairfax County community, died on September 19, 2025; and
WHEREAS, after graduating from Glen Rock High School in Glen Rock, New Jersey, Jane Edmondson attended Mount Holyoke College, then the University of Massachusetts Amherst, before making a foray into a career as an educator; and
WHEREAS, Jane Edmondson next found success as an aide on Capitol Hill, then spent time at the law firm of Arnold & Porter before becoming a senior officer at the National Captioning Institute, where she was instrumental to the creation of a public service that has improved accessibility for millions of Americans; and
WHEREAS, Jane Edmondson made her mark on Fairfax County while serving as the chief of staff for John Foust, Dranesville District Supervisor on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure with the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, Jane Edmondson became the locality's trusted source for information on various matters and helped steer a number of important initiatives, including the renovation and expansion of the Spring Hill Recreation Center; and
WHEREAS, as a volunteer and project manager, Jane Edmondson helped build Chesterbrook Residences, an affordable assisted living facility in McLean; and
WHEREAS, Jane Edmondson was an ardent advocate for the equal rights of women, serving on the board of what is today Reproductive Freedom for All; and
WHEREAS, affectionately known as “Nona,” by her 11 grandchildren, Jane Edmondson never tired in playing games and make believe, nor missed a game, performance, or graduation; and
WHEREAS, a longtime resident of the Washington, D.C., area, Jane Edmondson's passions included politics, the Washington Nationals, music at the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, and collecting art for and decorating her homes in McLean and Bethany Beach, Delaware; and
WHEREAS, Jane Edmondson was an active and devoted member of Lewinsville Presbyterian Church in McLean, where she gave generously of her time and talents and led various boards and committees to support the church and its mission; and
WHEREAS, Jane Edmondson will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her loving husband of 44 years, Jim; her four children, Ben, Mark, Jeff, and Lauren, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Jane Pasolli Edmondson, a treasured member of the Fairfax County community whose love, kindness, and generosity brightened countless lives; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Jane Pasolli Edmondson as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
