WHEREAS, Gerard Robert Langelier, an esteemed member of the staff at Bishop O'Connell High School in Arlington and a beloved member of the McLean and Falls Church community, died on September 28, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Gerard Langelier graduated in 1986 from McLean High School, where he had played football for four years, and he joined the facilities staff at Bishop O'Connell High School some years later; and
WHEREAS, over his 32 years at Bishop O'Connell High School, Gerard Langelier worked tirelessly to ensure the well-being of students and staff while aiding the school in the fulfillment of its mission; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of his exemplary efforts, Bishop O'Connell High School presented Gerard Langelier with an All-Star Faculty award in 2024; and
WHEREAS, after playing baseball with McLean Little League in his youth, Gerard Langelier continued to give back to the organization in his later years as an umpire, coach, manager, groundskeeper, and fan, earning a number of plaques and awards for his dedication; and
WHEREAS, Gerard Langelier was an ardent supporter of the Washington, D.C., professional sports teams, and he could also often be found cheering on teams at Bishop O'Connell High School and McLean High School; and
WHEREAS, Gerard Langelier was a gifted storyteller who was admired for his exceptional memory and his ability to recall entertaining and intriguing anecdotes that artfully connected the past with the present; and
WHEREAS, one of Gerard Langelier's greatest joys in life was spending time on the water, particularly when with family in Bethany Beach, Delaware, or at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire; and
WHEREAS, Gerard Langelier will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his mother, Carol; his siblings, Cynthia, Christina, and Rob, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Gerard Robert Langelier, a cherished member of the McLean and Falls Church community whose positivity, generosity, and indefatigable spirit inspired all who knew him; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Gerard Robert Langelier as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
