WHEREAS, Stella D. Garcia, an esteemed resident of Arlington, celebrates her 100th birthday on June 6, 2026, an incredible milestone in a life dedicated to family, faith, and community; and
WHEREAS, born in Laredo, Texas, Stella Garcia, as a devoted military spouse, moved to the Commonwealth in 1950, initially residing in the Shirley-Duke Apartments in Alexandria; and
WHEREAS, in 1952, Stella Garcia purchased a home in the Green Valley neighborhood of Arlington, before moving to Arlington Forest in 1959, where she has since resided as the cherished matriarch of her family and a leader in the community; and
WHEREAS, Stella Garcia, since 1950, has been a committed member and volunteer at St. Thomas More Church, now the Cathedral of St. Thomas More, and devoted her professional career to education, serving at St. Charles School and St. Ann School until her retirement in 2017; and
WHEREAS, a devoted mother, Stella Garcia raised seven children who have grown to become teachers, real estate professionals, writers, and business owners, exemplifying the values of hard work and dedication she instilled in them as youths; and
WHEREAS, Stella Garcia has also been blessed with 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom honor her as the foundation and inspiration of their family; and
WHEREAS, Stella Garcia remains an active member of her community, now regularly attending Sunday services at St. Ann Catholic Church and continuing to inspire those around her with her faith, resilience, and grace; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Stella D. Garcia on the occasion of her 100th birthday; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Stella D. Garcia as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her legacy of contributions to the Commonwealth and best wishes for continued health and happiness.
