Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Who Helped Win the Space Race

WHEREAS, Margot Lee Shetterly's
Hidden Figures
chronicles the lives of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson, Black women who were mathematicians at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) during the time of segregation; and
WHEREAS,

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Margot Lee Shetterly for her accomplishments with

; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Margot Lee Shetterly as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her achievements in literature, film, and historical research.
