Commending the Western Virginia Emergency Medical Services Council, Inc.

WHEREAS, in 2025, the Western Virginia Emergency Medical Services Council, Inc., celebrated its 50th anniversary of promoting excellence in the field of emergency medicine and enhancing the quality of life in communities throughout the region; and
WHEREAS, the Western Virginia Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Council, a nonprofit organization, was incorporated in 1975 to obtain federal funding for community-based EMS agencies and programs; and
WHEREAS, the Western Virginia EMS Council is dedicated to supporting emergency medical services systems for 18 jurisdictions, including the Cities of Covington, Danville, Martinsville, Radford, Roanoke, and Salem and the Counties of Alleghany, Botetourt, Craig, Floyd, Giles, Henry, Franklin, Montgomery, Patrick, Pittsylvania, Pulaski, and Roanoke, representing approximately 640,000 residents; and
WHEREAS, over the years, the board of the Western Virginia EMS Council has included EMS providers and representatives of EMS agencies and hospital facilities from across the region, ensuring broad viewpoints from different communities and levels of practice; and
WHEREAS, the Western Virginia EMS Council serves as a cornerstone of the Commonwealth's EMS system by maintaining efficient and effective emergency medical care delivery in the region and developing and implementing regional EMS delivery systems that cater to the unique needs of the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, the Western Virginia EMS Council has continued to diversify and evolve its training programs, protocols, and services to respond to new challenges and maximize advances in health care and technology, maintaining its status as a model EMS system at the forefront of patient care; and
WHEREAS, the Western Virginia EMS Council's achievements in improving public health and safety are the result of the visionary leadership of its founders, officers, and directors, the unwavering support of its health care partners at the regional and state levels, and the tireless efforts of the region's EMS personnel; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Western Virginia Emergency Medical Services Council, Inc., on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Western Virginia Emergency Medical Services Council, Inc., as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's legacy of contributions to the communities it serves.
