WHEREAS, Peter Lee Lustig, a beloved husband, father, and son, esteemed educator, intrepid adventurer, and cherished member of the Roanoke community, died on August 7, 2025; and
WHEREAS, a native of Illinois, Peter Lustig earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia before pursuing graduate studies at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; and
WHEREAS, Peter Lustig served for nearly three decades as a high school teacher, primarily at Cave Spring High School in Roanoke, where he dedicated himself to supporting his students' academic, social, and emotional well-being; and
WHEREAS, through his tireless and selfless efforts, Peter Lustig contributed to his students' success both in and out of the classroom, making an impact in the community that will be felt for years to come; and
WHEREAS, Peter Lustig was guided throughout his life by his steadfast faith and insatiable curiosity, approaching each day with wonder and embracing every opportunity to explore the beauty of the natural world; and
WHEREAS, Peter Lustig devoted himself to outdoor pursuits such as biking, hiking, rock climbing, and skiing, yet he found his greatest joy in spending quality time with family and loved ones; and
WHEREAS, Peter Lustig will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife, Sharon; his children, Daniel and Debra, and their families; his parents, Leon and Diane; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Peter Lee Lustig, a revered member of the Roanoke community whose legacy of love and kindness inspired all who knew him; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Peter Lee Lustig as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
