WHEREAS, the Families of the Wounded Fund is a nonprofit organization that honors the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have selflessly answered the call to defend the freedoms and security of the nation; and
WHEREAS, the Families of the Wounded Fund supports those who have sustained life-altering injuries while serving in combat operations, requiring long-term medical treatment, rehabilitation, and daily care; and
WHEREAS, the Families of the Wounded Fund assists the family caregivers who are essential to the recovery and well-being of these wounded warriors, as they provide around-the-clock care, emotional support, and the continuity necessary for healing; and
WHEREAS, the Families of the Wounded Fund addresses the profound financial burden that is often placed on these caregivers, as many leave employment, relocate, or otherwise sacrifice personal and professional stability to fulfill their mission of care; and
WHEREAS, the Families of the Wounded Fund has demonstrated unwavering commitment to supporting these families by providing over $5,500,000 in direct financial grants to caregivers of severely wounded service members; and
WHEREAS, since its founding in 2005, the Families of the Wounded Fund has enabled 823 families to overcome critical financial hurdles during long-term hospitalization and treatment periods, ensuring that no caregiver has to choose between being by their loved one's side and meeting basic needs; and
WHEREAS, the Families of the Wounded Fund operates with integrity, compassion, and patriotism, embodying the very values that strengthen our communities and reflect the best of the American spirit; and
WHEREAS, the Families of the Wounded Fund has made an invaluable contribution in supporting those who have borne the battle and the loved ones who stand beside them; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Families of the Wounded Fund on the occasion of its 20th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the board of directors of the Families of the Wounded Fund as an expression of the General Assembly's sincere respect, admiration, and gratitude for the organization's advocacy and meaningful impact on the lives of military families in need.
