WHEREAS, Emmett Pierce, an honorable veteran, respected machinist, accomplished musician, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, and cherished member of the Hanover County community, died on October 22, 2025; and
WHEREAS, born and raised in Mechanicsville, Emmett “Dalton” Pierce served his country with honor and distinction as a member of the special forces of the 11th Airborne Division of the United States Army; and
WHEREAS, Dalton Pierce made an impact working for several years as a machinist for Reynolds Metals and later by serving for 19 years with the Hanover County Parks and Recreation Department; and
WHEREAS, Dalton Pierce had a passion and gift for music and delighted family and fans playing lead guitar and singing tenor with the Bluegrass Clippers and the Disciples; and
WHEREAS, guided throughout his life by his faith, Dalton Pierce enjoyed worship and fellowship with his community at Slash Christian Church in Hanover County, where he served as the co-author, director, and producer of the church's outdoor Christmas Nativity, “Why the Star?”; and
WHEREAS, Dalton Pierce will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Julia; his children, Chad, Shane, and Jared, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Emmett Pierce, a treasured member of the Hanover County community whose light brightened countless lives; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Emmett Pierce as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
