WHEREAS, for 100 years, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation has promoted the Commonwealth's agricultural sector and supported rural communities through educational resources, programs, and advocacy; and
WHEREAS, established in 1926, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation was originally created as a cooperative to provide discounted farm supplies for its members and has grown to become the largest agricultural advocacy organization in the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation has empowered generations of farmers and helped to ensure that the agricultural sector remains an important pillar of the Commonwealth's vibrant economy; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation has provided insurance for farmers through its Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company for 65 years, and its informative publication,
Virginia Farm Bureau News
, has been in print for 75 years; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation's Young Farmers Program has helped countless young people learn more about agriculture and make a difference in their communities, and the organization offers a fellowship program for young professionals to find opportunities with affiliated agricultural companies; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation honors Virginia teachers who successfully inspire the next generation of farmers by incorporating agriculture into their core lessons through its Agriculture in the Classroom Program; and
WHEREAS, over the course of its history, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation has played a vital role as a champion for its members and will continue to address challenges in the agricultural sector in a manner that benefits the Commonwealth as a whole; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for its legacy of achievements and service to communities throughout the Commonwealth.
