Celebrating the life of Mirabella Jean Michael Ward.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, January 26, 2026
WHEREAS, Mirabella Jean Michael Ward, a student in Bland County Public Schools and a beloved member of the Bland County community, died on December 22, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Mirabella “Bella” Jean Michael Ward attended Bland Elementary School for several years, where she displayed a love for learning and fostered many meaningful friendships with students, teachers, and staff; and
WHEREAS, outside of school, Bella Ward kept active by playing travel basketball and softball, cheerleading, and participating in a local beauty pageant, and she was happiest of all when spending quality time with her family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Bella Ward embraced the teachings of the Bible from a young age, received her baptism in 2025, and cherished every opportunity for worship and fellowship with her community at Wilderness Creek Church of God in Bland County; and
WHEREAS, Bella Ward faced her cancer diagnosis with extraordinary faith, positivity, and courage, inspiring her family and community to stand strong by her side; and
WHEREAS, Bella Ward will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her parents, Christopher and Christy; her brother, Hunter; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Mirabella Jean Michael Ward, a treasured member of the Bland County community whose light brightened countless lives; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Mirabella Jean Michael Ward as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for her memory.
