Commending Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Fredericksburg.

WHEREAS, Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Fredericksburg, an organization dedicated to helping young people through one-to-one mentoring relationships that encourage them to achieve their full potential and thrive, has greatly served the community for nearly 60 years; and
WHEREAS, founded as Rappahannock Big Brothers in 1967 by the Reverend Thomas G. Faulkner, the organization incorporated a Big Sisters chapter seven years later, becoming the first combined Big Brothers Big Sisters program in the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Rappahannock Big Brothers Big Sisters was rebranded as Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Fredericksburg in 2018 to better reflect the organization's service area, which today includes the City of Fredericksburg and the Counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George, and Caroline; and
WHEREAS, through its core program and a number of other mentoring and after-school programs, Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Fredericksburg has matched hundreds of children with thoughtful and compassionate adults who are committed to making a difference in the lives of young people; and
WHEREAS, Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Fredericksburg has steadily grown since its founding and adapted its service delivery model over the years to enhance its ability to fulfill its mission and serve youth and families; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Fredericksburg have been realized through the generous support of its many community partners, including businesses, foundations, local government entities, and individuals; and
WHEREAS, by empowering young people to aim high and achieve their dreams, the leaders, staff, and volunteers of Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Fredericksburg have made a positive and lasting impact on countless lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Fredericksburg hereby be commended for its legacy of service; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Fredericksburg as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's contributions to the Greater Fredericksburg area and the Commonwealth.
