WHEREAS, Robert L. Bailey, an esteemed public servant who dedicated nine years to serving the citizens of Lynchburg, concluded his tenure as treasurer of the City of Lynchburg in 2025; and
WHEREAS, born and raised in Lynchburg, Robert Bailey graduated from E.C. Glass High School before earning bachelor's and master's degrees from what is today the University of Lynchburg; and
WHEREAS, Robert Bailey won a special election to serve as treasurer of the City of Lynchburg in 2016 and, in recognition of his accomplishments, was re-elected in 2017 and 2021; and
WHEREAS, in his role as treasurer, Robert Bailey demonstrated great work ethic and integrity as he oversaw the collection of taxes and local fees and the disbursal of payments on behalf of the City of Lynchburg; and
WHEREAS, Robert Bailey's financial acumen and commitment to quality service proved vital to ensuring the successful and responsible management of the City of Lynchburg's finances over the past decade; and
WHEREAS, with an emphasis on efficiency, productivity, and professionalism, Robert Bailey brought distinction to the City of Lynchburg's Office of the Treasurer; and
WHEREAS, through his unwavering commitment to fiscal responsibility and good governance, Robert Bailey made a meaningful and lasting impact on the community of Lynchburg; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Robert L. Bailey hereby be commended for his exemplary public service as he concludes his term as the treasurer of the City of Lynchburg; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Robert L. Bailey as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his contributions to the City of Lynchburg and the Commonwealth.
