Celebrating the life of Elijah C. Stiltner.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 16, 2026
WHEREAS, Elijah C. Stiltner, an honorable veteran, dedicated correctional officer, and beloved member of the Pounding Mill community, died on February 1, 2026; and
WHEREAS, a native of Southwest Virginia, Elijah Stiltner graduated from Richlands High School in 2005 and later earned a degree from Southwest Virginia Community College before attending Radford University; and
WHEREAS, Elijah Stiltner honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army National Guard, including during a deployment to Qatar; and
WHEREAS, following his service, Elijah Stiltner devoted himself to safeguarding the community and helping individuals transform their lives in his capacity as a correctional officer; and
WHEREAS, Elijah Stiltner was always willing to help someone in need without expecting anything in return, and his kindness and compassion made an impact on all who knew him; and
WHEREAS, Elijah Stiltner inspired his family and loved ones as he demonstrated extraordinary strength, grace, and determination throughout his battle with cancer; and
WHEREAS, preceded in death by his brother, Josh, Elijah Stiltner will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loving mother, Tina; his stepfather, Ronnie; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Elijah C. Stiltner, a cherished member of the Pounding Mill community whose light brightened countless lives; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Elijah C. Stiltner as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
