Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 19, 2026
WHEREAS, Alice Barlow, an accomplished equestrian and owner of Team Barlow Performance Horses, won three national grand championships and four reserve national championships at the Gypsy Vanner National Championship in Belton, Texas, in 2025; and
WHEREAS, working with the horse PPF A Summer's Song, also known as “Sunny,” Alice Barlow notably had top 10 finishes in 15 of the 16 classes in which she competed, including her championships in classes within the western, English, trail, halter, and dressage divisions; and
WHEREAS, Alice Barlow has been working with the Gypsy Vanner horse breed for approximately a decade and had trained with the four-year-old Sunny for the past year; and
WHEREAS, Alice Barlow has been riding horses since the age of seven and has participated in equestrian competitions since the age of 12; and
WHEREAS, after graduation from Randolph Macon Academy in 2009, Alice Barlow earned bachelor's degrees and a master's degree from the University of Findlay, which has one of the most distinguished equestrian studies programs in the country; and
WHEREAS, Alice Barlow has been certified to train every breed of horse in every discipline and has been training horses and riders of all skill levels since 2013; and
WHEREAS, Alice Barlow is qualified to judge multiple breeds of horses, and she has supported the equestrian community by serving as a judge at competitions across the country; and
WHEREAS, Alice Barlow's accomplishments are the result of her exceptional horse-riding knowledge and experience, her tireless training, and her unwavering commitment to excellence; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Alice Barlow hereby be commended for winning three national grand championships and four reserve national championships at the 2025 Gypsy Vanner National Championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Alice Barlow as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her achievements and best wishes for her continued success.
