Commending The Bagel Baker.

WHEREAS, The Bagel Baker, a beloved purveyor of bagels and other breakfast and lunch items, has greatly served the Virginia Beach community for 15 years; and
WHEREAS, The Bagel Baker was established in 2011 by George and Kate Stepanovich, who aspired to bring authentic New York-style bagels to the Great Neck community of Virginia Beach; and
WHEREAS, The Bagel Baker's bagels are prepared each morning in-house using only fresh ingredients and then kettle-boiled and stone-baked to achieve the perfect New York bagel experience; and
WHEREAS, The Bagel Baker is a family operation with several generations of Stepanoviches contributing to its success, including George Stepanovich's mom, Anna Maria, who prepares homemade soups for the restaurant and often runs the register; and
WHEREAS, as a testament to its popularity, The Bagel Baker has been voted the “Best Bagel Shop in Virginia Beach” by readers of
The Virginian-Pilot
, while also receiving Readers' Choice Awards from
Coastal Virginia Magazine
; and
WHEREAS, The Bagel Baker makes an impact in the community by regularly facilitating local fundraising efforts, providing its food truck at community charity events, and serving as a meeting place where friends and loved ones may gather; and
WHEREAS, with an unwavering commitment to excellence and to the well-being and satisfaction of its customers, The Bagel Baker has helped to make Virginia Beach a wonderful place to live, work, and dine; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That The Bagel Baker hereby be commended on the occasion of its 15th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to George and Kate Stepanovich, owners of The Bagel Baker, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the restaurant's contributions to the Commonwealth.
