Commending the Verona Volunteer Fire Company.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 23, 2026
WHEREAS, the Verona Volunteer Fire Company, an organization that greatly serves the community by bravely safeguarding the residents and businesses of Augusta County, celebrated its 65th anniversary in 2024; and
WHEREAS, the Verona Volunteer Fire Company (VVFC) was founded in March 1959 to provide fire services to the Verona community in Augusta County; today, the VVFC proudly protects approximately 7,000 people across an area of 44 square miles; and
WHEREAS, the VVFC began its operations with a 1946 Ford/John Bean pumper truck and has consistently acquired new equipment and apparatus over the years to enhance its ability to effectively respond to fires and other emergencies; and
WHEREAS, after occupying its first fire station for several years, the VVFC constructed a new fire station in 1982, which was subsequently renovated between 2003 and 2006, adding more than 20,000 square feet of space for the benefit of the community and the organization's members; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the VVFC are the result of the tireless efforts of its volunteer staff, who are supported during the week by career firefighters with Augusta County Fire-Rescue; and
WHEREAS, the members of the VVFC have demonstrated extraordinary courage and dedication as they have valiantly protected the Verona community from fires and other hazards, earning the esteem and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Verona Volunteer Fire Company hereby be commended on the occasion of its 65th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Verona Volunteer Fire Company as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's history and its contributions to Augusta County and the Commonwealth.
