WHEREAS, Veronica Prince, deputy city clerk of the City of Falls Church, has greatly served the citizens of Falls Church for more than 25 years; and
WHEREAS, Veronica Prince started working with the City of Falls Church in 2000 as a part-time employee in the Human Resources Department, became a full-time administrative assistant in the Clerk's Office in 2003, and later transitioned to the position of deputy city clerk in 2007; and
WHEREAS, as deputy city clerk, Veronica Prince serves as the main point of contact for staff liaisons to the City of Falls Church's 21 advisory boards and commissions and manages the city council's Appointments Committee processes for appointing resident members to boards and commissions; and
WHEREAS, Veronica Prince has demonstrated extraordinary loyalty, professionalism, and compassion as she actively promotes the City of Falls Church and encourages residents to become involved in matters impacting the locality; and
WHEREAS, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Veronica Prince worked tirelessly to coordinate and track more than 500 virtual board and commission meetings while ensuring that the meetings were in compliance with state law and accessible to the public; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of her exceptional effort and dedication, Veronica Prince was named City of Falls Church Employee of the Year in 2021; and
WHEREAS, with the aim of guaranteeing that the City of Falls Church's public bodies would be transparent and available to everyone, Veronica Prince helped to establish the locality's first public meeting assistant position; and
WHEREAS, Veronica Prince has often gone above and beyond the call of duty in support of the City of Falls Church, serving as acting city clerk between city clerk appointments in 2014 and assisting with the city council's temporary relocation to the City of Falls Church Senior Center in 2018; and
WHEREAS, as a mentor to staff members and a trusted supporter of the city clerk, the city council, and all of its advisory boards, Veronica Prince has become an integral part of the City of Falls Church's governance and operations; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Veronica Prince hereby be commended for her more than 25 years of service on behalf of the City of Falls Church and its residents; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Veronica Prince as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her contributions to Falls Church and the Commonwealth.
