Commending Dan La May.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 2, 2026
WHEREAS, in February 2026, Dan La May, owner of the moving service Dan's Van Lines, was selected as the Chamber Citizen of the Year by the Mount Vernon Springfield Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Dan La May received this prestigious honor at the Mount Vernon Springfield Chamber of Commerce THE BEST Business Awards Celebration, which recognizes individuals and businesses that have cultivated reputations for high-quality products and excellent customer service and are committed to making a difference in the community; and
WHEREAS, Dan La May established Dan's Van Lines in 1997 after he discovered a natural talent for helping people move; what began as a few small side jobs grew into a thriving business known for its care and reliability; and
WHEREAS, Dan La May and the staff members at Dan's Van Lines plan every part of a move with precision, from packing and staging to storage and specialty transport; the company has successfully completed moves throughout the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, long-distance moves, and international moves, providing the same attention to detail and personal service for every job; and
WHEREAS, Dan La May has also built strong relationships with local retirement communities to ensure that older adults receive fair and compassionate service as they transition to a new chapter of their lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Dan La May hereby be commended on the occasion of his selection as the 2026 Chamber Citizen of the Year by the Mount Vernon Springfield Chamber of Commerce; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Dan La May as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his exceptional contributions to the residents of Northern Virginia as a business owner and community leader.
