Celebrating the life of Bruce Jones.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 9, 2026
WHEREAS, Bruce Jones, an accomplished economist, active civic leader, and beloved member of the Fairfax County community, died on October 17, 2025; and
WHEREAS, in his professional career, Bruce Jones was a senior economist who worked in health care and education in countries such as the Philippines, Lesotho, Uganda, Zambia, and Kenya; and
WHEREAS, in retirement, Bruce Jones devoted himself to the well-being of his community through his involvement with the Lemon Road Civic Association (LRCA), which he served as president, vice president, and secretary; and
WHEREAS, Bruce Jones brought his extensive expertise in transportation and development issues to the public discourse and was a valued and respected voice at both the LRCA and the McLean Citizens Association, which he supported through various leadership roles, including recording secretary; and
WHEREAS, Bruce Jones was affectionately regarded as the institutional memory of LRCA, and he was a generous mentor to many over the years; and
WHEREAS, Bruce Jones will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by numerous family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Bruce Jones, a cherished member of the Fairfax County community whose advocacy and service made a lasting impact on countless lives; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Bruce Jones as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
