WHEREAS, Eddie Thomas, a dedicated and hardworking facility manager at the former Lee Regional Medical Center and what is today the Lee County Community Hospital, has greatly served the Lee County community for 50 years; and
WHEREAS, Eddie Thomas began his career with the Lee County Community Hospital, formerly known as the Lee Regional Medical Center, on November 10, 1975, and has remained with the hospital system through several mergers, including a span of eight years when the hospital was closed; and
WHEREAS, Eddie Thomas regularly went out of his way to help his colleagues and community, giving individuals rides to work during snowstorms and lending his truck and trailer to support local parades; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of his leadership and expertise, Eddie Thomas was selected by the Lee County Hospital Authority to maintain and safeguard the hospital during its closure, and he played an invaluable role during the construction phase that led to its reopening as the Lee County Community Hospital on July 1, 2021; and
WHEREAS, Eddie Thomas has been a generous mentor to several generations of team members, and his knowledge, kindness, and steady presence have made a lasting impact on both patients and staff at the Lee County Community Hospital; and
WHEREAS, with great integrity and determination, Eddie Thomas has ensured the success of the Lee County Community Hospital over many chapters in its history, earning the esteem and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Eddie Thomas hereby be commended for his 50 years of service supporting public health and wellness in Lee County; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Eddie Thomas as an expression of the House of Delegates' appreciation for his contributions to Lee County and the Commonwealth.
