WHEREAS, for 175 years, Sharon United Methodist Church in Yale has served the Sussex County community by providing uplifting spiritual guidance, joyful occasions for worship and fellowship, and abundant opportunities for outreach and service; and
WHEREAS, it has been generally accepted that Sharon United Methodist Church was established in 1850 through the unification of two preexisting congregations, Providence Methodist Episcopal Church and Sharon Methodist Protestant Church; and
WHEREAS, since its founding, Sharon United Methodist Church has been led by a distinguished line of pastors and trustees, who have offered enlightened counsel to the church's members while working diligently to ensure the church's prosperity and longevity; and
WHEREAS, through various ministries and outreach activities, Sharon United Methodist Church has greatly improved the quality of life for many in Sussex County and throughout the surrounding region; and
WHEREAS, for the past 175 years, Sharon United Methodist Church has been the spiritual home for countless individuals and families who have found loving fellowship and community within its walls; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Sharon United Methodist Church hereby be commended on the occasion of its 175th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sharon United Methodist Church as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the church's history and its meaningful contributions to Sussex County and the Commonwealth.
