WHEREAS, Seuk Kim of Springfield, a dedicated pilot, devoted husband, and loving father, died on November 24, 2024, in service to a cause he cared deeply about, rescuing shelter animals and giving them a chance at a better future; and
WHEREAS, born in Seoul, South Korea, and raised in Burke, Seuk Kim embodied the American dream, excelling in academics and athletics before pursuing a career in finance and later answering the call of his childhood passion—aviation; and
WHEREAS, after years of working in finance, Seuk Kim courageously changed course to become a pilot, fulfilling a lifelong aspiration with the unwavering support of his wife, Anna Kim, and their three children, Leah, Isaac, and Mason; and
WHEREAS, through the nonprofit organization Pilots N Paws, Seuk Kim dedicated his time and skills to transporting rescue animals to new homes, volunteering tirelessly to ensure their safe passage and demonstrating profound compassion for the most vulnerable; and
WHEREAS, on November 24, 2024, Seuk Kim took to the skies on one such mission of mercy, transporting four dogs to their adoptive homes, an act of selflessness that would tragically be his final flight; and
WHEREAS, in the face of challenging weather and difficult flying conditions, Seuk Kim remained committed to his mission, ultimately sacrificing his life in an effort to see it through; and
WHEREAS, Seuk Kim not only saved countless animals, but touched countless lives in the community, inspiring family members, friends, coworkers, and volunteers alike through his kindness and dedication; and
WHEREAS, Seuk Kim's legacy is one of compassion, servant leadership, and love, and he was an exemplar for all who strive to live with purpose and give back to their communities; and
WHEREAS, Seuk Kim will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Anna; his children, Leah, Isaac, and Mason; and numerous other family members, friends, and colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Seuk Kim, a beloved member of the Springfield community and a champion for animal welfare; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Seuk Kim as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
