WHEREAS, for 80 years, Shiloh New Site Baptist Church in Stafford has greatly served the community by providing uplifting spiritual guidance, joyous occasions for worship and fellowship, and meaningful opportunities for charitable outreach; and
WHEREAS, Shiloh New Site Baptist Church was founded on April 16, 1946, by the Reverend William Harris, Oliver Fitzhugh, Alfonso Johnson, and Mary Clark, and the church's cornerstone was laid in place on May 9, 1948; and
WHEREAS, since the Reverend William Harris, who served Shiloh New Site Baptist Church for 14 years, the congregation has been guided by a distinguished line of faith leaders, including its current pastor, the Reverend Dr. Gary Carr; and
WHEREAS, Shiloh New Site Baptist Church organizes and facilitates various ministries to make a positive difference in the lives of others and to help its members grow in their faith; and
WHEREAS, by serving as a beacon of hope, love, and faith in the community, Shiloh New Site Baptist Church has helped to make Stafford a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Shiloh New Site Baptist Church hereby be commended for its legacy of service on the occasion of its 80th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Shiloh New Site Baptist Church as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the church's contributions to Stafford and the Commonwealth.
