WHEREAS, David P. Bushey, an honorable veteran and esteemed law-enforcement officer with more than 30 years of experience, has greatly served the Middlesex County community as the sheriff of Middlesex County; and
WHEREAS, David Bushey served his country with honor and distinction for more than five years as a member of the United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of sergeant while carrying out a number of prestigious assignments, including serving with the honor guard at the White House and at the National Military Command Center with the Joint Chiefs of Staff; and
WHEREAS, David Bushey began his career in law enforcement in 1983 as a deputy marshal with the United States Marshals Service, then served with the Richmond Police Department for five years in the late 1980s; and
WHEREAS, David Bushey left law enforcement for some time to work in the private sector as a division manager for the North American Marketing, Inc., and as the owner and operator of a marine salvage business in Middlesex County; and
WHEREAS, David Bushey returned to law enforcement when he joined the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office in 1994 as a deputy; after demonstrating exceptional leadership and professionalism, he was later promoted to the position of chief deputy; and
WHEREAS, in 2011, David Bushey was elected to serve as the sheriff of Middlesex County; in this role, he has worked tirelessly with his officers and community partners to promote public safety and enhance the quality of life in Middlesex County; and
WHEREAS, with an unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of the citizens and community he serves, David Bushey has helped to make Middlesex County a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That David P. Bushey hereby be commended for his distinguished service as the sheriff of Middlesex County; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to David P. Bushey as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his contributions to Middlesex County and the Commonwealth.
