WHEREAS, Caleb Lasley, a freshman at Giles High School, won the Virginia High School League Class 1 and 2 state championship in the one-meter dive event on February 17, 2026, at St. Catherine's Kenny Center Pool in Richmond; and
WHEREAS, Caleb Lasley, who was notably the first diver in Giles High School history to compete in the state meet, tallied 295.70 points over 11 dives to bring home the state championship title; and
WHEREAS, Caleb Lasley swam for Giles High School in the state swim meet on February 18, 2026, at SwimRVA in Richmond, where he placed sixth in the 200-yard medley relay event; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the Giles High School swim and dive team, Caleb Lasley trains and competes with the New River Diving team, and he placed in a USA Diving region and zone meet in the summer of 2025; and
WHEREAS, beyond swimming and diving, Caleb Lasley is an all-A student and a member of the Giles High School band and the Giles High School Marching Spartans; and
WHEREAS, Caleb Lasley's accomplishments are the result of his hard work and dedication, the leadership and guidance of his coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of his family and the entire Giles High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Caleb Lasley hereby be commended for winning the 2026 Virginia High School League Class 1 and 2 state championship in the one-meter dive event; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Caleb Lasley as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his achievement and best wishes for his continued success.
