Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 9, 2026
WHEREAS, the Frank W. Cox High School wrestling team of Virginia Beach won the Virginia High School League Class 5 state championship on February 21, 2026, at the Virginia Beach Sports Center; and
WHEREAS, the Cox High School Falcons posted 196.5 points to outscore the runner-up Great Bridge High School Wildcats of Chesapeake by 62.5 points and capture the program's third consecutive state championship title; and
WHEREAS, the Cox Falcons benefitted from strong performances by all of its wrestlers, including Landon Cahill, Caleb Rafal, Vicente Granada, Karl Ludwig, and Rudy Wagner, who were the individual champions in their respective events; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Cox Falcons are the result of the teamwork and determination of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Frank W. Cox High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Frank W. Cox High School wrestling team hereby be commended for winning the 2026 Virginia High School League Class 5 state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Frank W. Cox High School wrestling team as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's achievement and best wishes for the program's continued success.
