WHEREAS, the First Colonial High School girls' swim and dive team of Virginia Beach won the Virginia High School League Class 5 state championship on February 21, 2026, at SwimRVA in Richmond; and
WHEREAS, the First Colonial High School Patriots scored 349 points to surpass the runner-up Midlothian High School Trojans by 120 points, bringing home the program's fifth state title in the past seven seasons; and
WHEREAS, the First Colonial Patriots were catapulted to victory by Dara Duffy's first-place finishes in the individual 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle events and by the team's wins in the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay events; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the First Colonial Patriots are the result of the teamwork and determination of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire First Colonial High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the First Colonial High School girls' swim and dive team hereby be commended for winning the 2026 Virginia High School League Class 5 state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the First Colonial High School girls' swim and dive team as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's achievement and best wishes for the program's continued success.
