Commending Operation Breaking Through, Inc.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 10, 2026
WHEREAS, Operation Breaking Through, Inc., is an organization dedicated to helping individuals from all walks of life get what they need to be self-sustaining and productive citizens; and
WHEREAS, Operation Breaking Through (OBT) pursues its mission by working with other local nonprofits, private agencies, and faith organizations to develop a network of support to assist underserved individuals and those facing challenging and unfortunate life circumstances; and
WHEREAS, OBT seeks to establish whole-person solutions for those it serves, regardless of their background, and to inspire volunteers and donors to nurture positive and lasting relationships with the disadvantaged communities of Hampton Roads; and
WHEREAS, OBT's endeavors in support of the community include two food pantries, participation in a United States Department of Agriculture program to provide food products to low-income families, a diaper distribution program in coordination with the Greater Hampton Roads Diaper Bank, a gang prevention program, and a project management training program; and
WHEREAS, OBT has recently fostered strategic partnerships to expand its reach and enhance its ability to serve the community, including by providing job placement assistance, mentoring, access to dental care, and support for victims of human trafficking and domestic abuse; and
WHEREAS, OBT has encouraged the growth and success of several emerging nonprofit organizations by offering guidance and support in the early stages of their development; and
WHEREAS, with great love, compassion, and sense of purpose, OBT has made a profound and meaningful impact on countless lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Operation Breaking Through, Inc., hereby be commended for its legacy of service in Hampton Roads; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Operation Breaking Through, Inc., as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's contributions to Hampton Roads and the Commonwealth.
