Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 10, 2026
WHEREAS, James Richard Damaré, an active member of the Sterling community and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, died on August 13, 2025; and
WHEREAS, James “Jim” Richard Damaré was born in Pomona, California, in 1957 and moved to Silver Spring, Maryland, with his family in 1968; he graduated from Northwood High School, where he met the love of his life and future wife, Maria; and
WHEREAS, over the course of his career, Jim Damaré earned a reputation as a Renaissance man with expertise in a wide range of subjects, from real estate, technology, and the restaurant business to horse tack, fine china, gold and silver, and the creative arts; and
WHEREAS, Jim Damaré was highly admired for his intellectual curiosity, dedication to lifelong learning, and incomparable work ethic; after retiring from Long & Foster Real Estate in 2023, he supported several local enterprises through his talents in web design and photography; and
WHEREAS, Jim Damaré was also the unofficial photographer for his family, preserving precious moments from birthdays, holidays, graduations, and everyday joys and compiling them in beloved family calendars; and
WHEREAS, Jim Damaré volunteered his time and leadership to support numerous worthy causes and touched countless lives through his kindness, compassion, and boundless generosity; and
WHEREAS, Jim Damaré will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 45 years, Maria; his children, James, Joanna, Jackie, and Jared, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of James Richard Damaré; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of James Richard Damaré as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
