WHEREAS, Melissa Rollins, a respected public servant and dedicated leader, is retiring effective July 1, 2026, as county administrator for Surry County after 24 years of exemplary service to the citizens of Surry County and the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Melissa Rollins has faithfully served Surry County with integrity, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to transparent, effective local governance; and
WHEREAS, as county administrator, Melissa Rollins has overseen the daily operations of county government, guided fiscal stewardship and balanced budgeting, supported critical infrastructure improvements, and strengthened collaboration among constitutional officers, staff, and the Surry County Board of Supervisors; and
WHEREAS, throughout her tenure, Melissa Rollins has demonstrated steady leadership, sound judgment, and a deep understanding of the unique character and needs of Surry County, ensuring that public resources were managed responsibly and that county services were delivered efficiently and equitably; and
WHEREAS, Melissa Rollins has worked diligently to foster productive partnerships with regional, state, and community stakeholders, positioning Surry County for continued stability and growth while preserving its historic heritage and rural charm; and
WHEREAS, admired by colleagues and citizens alike for her accessibility, work ethic, and thoughtful approach to problem solving, Melissa Rollins leaves a lasting legacy of professionalism and service that will benefit Surry County for years to come; and
WHEREAS, Melissa Rollins' retirement marks the conclusion of a distinguished chapter of public service and the beginning of a well-earned new season of life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Melissa Rollins hereby be commended on the occasion of her retirement as county administrator for Surry County; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Melissa Rollins as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her dedicated service to Surry County and the Commonwealth.
