WHEREAS, Mystique Ro, a graduate of Brentsville District High School in Nokesville, was selected as a member of Team USA for the XXV Winter Olympic Games in 2026; and
WHEREAS, born in California, Mystique Ro's family relocated to the East Coast when she was young and ultimately settled in Nokesville, where she was a star member of the Brentsville District High School track and field team; and
WHEREAS, Mystique Ro continued competing in track and field events, including hurdles, sprints, javelin, and heptathlon, as a student at Queens University of Charlotte; and
WHEREAS, after graduating from college in 2016, Mystique Ro was invited to a regional bobsled/skeleton combine, where she was encouraged to pursue skeleton; she began competing in
International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation
North American Cup races in 2017; and
WHEREAS, Mystique Ro made her International Luge Federation (FIL) World Cup debut in 2023, then became the first American to win a skeleton race on the world cup circuit in eight years in 2024; and
WHEREAS, at the 2025 FIL World Luge Championships, Mystique Ro claimed the silver medal in the women's skeleton event, becoming the first American to win a world medal in 12 years; she subsequently won a gold medal in the mixed team skeleton event with teammate Austin Florian; and
WHEREAS, at the XXV Winter Olympic Games, held in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, Mystique Ro finished 15th in the women's individual skeleton event and seventh in the mixed team skeleton event; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Mystique Ro hereby be commended for representing the Commonwealth as a member of Team USA at the XXV Winter Olympic Games; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mystique Ro as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her athletic achievements.
