WHEREAS, Beatrice Parker, a beloved and treasured member of the Suffolk community, celebrates her 100th birthday on March 23, 2026; and
WHEREAS, born and raised in Parsonsburg, Maryland, Beatrice Parker learned the values of resilience, kindness, and determination while growing up during the Great Depression and living through a period of profound change; and
WHEREAS, after completing her education in Wicomico County, Maryland, Beatrice Parker married her husband, Arthur, and devoted herself to raising her four children; and
WHEREAS, Beatrice Parker supported her family over the years by providing domestic help to several families, and her tireless efforts and dedication made an impact on countless lives; and
WHEREAS, Beatrice Parker and her husband later relocated to Suffolk, where she fostered a community of family, friends, and loved ones from 2008 to 2025 before recently returning to Maryland to live with her daughter; and
WHEREAS, Beatrice Parker has been a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend and the heart of her family, always offering guidance, love, and unwavering support to those around her; and
WHEREAS, inspired throughout her life by her faith, Beatrice Parker enjoyed worship and fellowship with her community at the Church of God and Saints of Christ in Suffolk, which she actively supported for many years; and
WHEREAS, Beatrice Parker has embodied strength, grace, and wisdom throughout her life, and her legacy of love and innumerable stories and lessons have enriched the lives of all who have had the privilege to know her; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Beatrice Parker of Suffolk hereby be commended on the occasion of her 100th birthday; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Beatrice Parker as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her contributions to the community and her noteworthy and remarkable life.
