WHEREAS, Stephanie Alston, an educator at King's Fork Middle School in Suffolk, was named the Citywide Middle School Teacher of the Year and the Districtwide Teacher of the Year by Suffolk Public Schools for the 2025–2026 school year; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie Alston has 20 years of experience as a special education educator and has worked with students of all ages, from elementary and middle school students to adult students online; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie Alston joined Suffolk Public Schools in 2009 and has been a reading specialist at King's Fork Middle School for nearly a decade; and
WHEREAS, as a reading specialist, Stephanie Alston has helped countless children develop their literacy skills, giving them the confidence to succeed both in and out of the classroom; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie Alston has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to promoting inclusivity and community connection at her schools and to supporting her students' academic, social, and emotional well-being; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie Alston has continually worked to hone her abilities as an educator and recently earned a doctoral degree in her effort to be the best teacher she can be for her students; and
WHEREAS, through her leadership and dedication, Stephanie Alston has made a profound and lasting impact on the students and families she serves and the entire King's Fork Middle School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Stephanie Alston hereby be commended for being named the 2025–2026 Citywide Middle School Teacher of the Year and Districtwide Teacher of the Year by Suffolk Public Schools; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Stephanie Alston as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her contributions to the education of young people in Suffolk and the Commonwealth.
