Commending Carl's Frozen Custard.

WHEREAS, Carl's Frozen Custard, a family-owned curbside ice cream stand located at 2200 Princess Anne Street in Fredericksburg, has served residents of the Commonwealth and visitors from across the region since April 3, 1947; and
WHEREAS, founded by Carl Sponseller, Carl's Frozen Custard has remained in the Sponseller family for generations, preserving its traditions and maintaining continuity of ownership and operation; and
WHEREAS, since its opening, Carl's Frozen Custard has produced frozen custard daily using original Electro Freeze machines from the 1940s and has maintained a simple menu featuring classic flavors prepared fresh each day; and
WHEREAS, the original Art Moderne building housing Carl's Frozen Custard was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005, recognizing its architectural and historical significance to Fredericksburg; and
WHEREAS, Carl's Frozen Custard has become a regional landmark and gathering place, drawing generations of families and visitors who return year after year to enjoy its seasonal opening and longstanding traditions; and
WHEREAS, Carl's Frozen Custard has been recognized beyond the Commonwealth for its quality and heritage, including national media recognition as one of America's best ice cream destinations; and
WHEREAS, through nearly eight decades of continuous operation, Carl's Frozen Custard has contributed to the cultural identity, small-business vitality, and community life of Fredericksburg and the surrounding region; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Carl's Frozen Custard hereby be commended for its longstanding service to the residents of Fredericksburg and the Commonwealth and for its enduring place in Virginia's small-business and cultural heritage; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the owners of Carl's Frozen Custard as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the establishment's historic legacy and continued service to the community.
