Celebrating the life of the Reverend David Anthony Young, Sr.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 13, 2026
WHEREAS, the Reverend David Anthony Young, Sr., a spiritual leader and active member of the Richmond community, died on September 14, 2025; and
WHEREAS, David Young grew up in Henrico County, where he graduated from Virginia Randolph High School; he began his journey in faith at a young age as a member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, David Young attended the Voice of Prophecy Seminary and was licensed and ordained as a minister in 1982; over the course of his pastoral career, he helped many individuals grow in faith, founded life-changing ministries, and served as a Sunday school superintendent; and
WHEREAS, David Young also pursued a long career with Nabisco, retiring after 35 years of service; and
WHEREAS, David Young's greatest joy in life was his beloved family, and he was a steady and nurturing presence in the lives of his children, imparting to them his commitment to servant leadership; and
WHEREAS, predeceased by his first wife, Bettie, and one daughter, Deborah, David Young will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Andrea; his sons, David, Jr., and Nathaniel, and their families; his bonus daughter, JaViere; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of the Reverend David Anthony Young, Sr.; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of the Reverend David Anthony Young, Sr., as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
