Commending Fertility for Colored Girls + Guys.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 13, 2026
WHEREAS, Fertility for Colored Girls + Guys, a national organization founded in 2013 with a Richmond Chapter that launched in 2023, provides education, awareness, support, and encouragement to Black women and couples experiencing infertility; and
WHEREAS, Fertility for Colored Girls + Guys brings hope and fellowship to women struggling with infertility and helps women and their families break down barriers to fertility through informative programs; and
WHEREAS, Fertility for Colored Girls + Guys recognizes that Black women face higher rates of infertility, higher risks of pregnancy-related complications, and more severe menopausal symptoms when compared to other groups, yet they often receive less access to quality care, fewer treatment options, and inadequate medical support; and
WHEREAS, Fertility for Colored Girls + Guys also raises awareness that Black men face barriers to understanding their own reproductive health, and Black men face stigmas around discussing infertility, contributing to delays in diagnosis and treatment; and
WHEREAS, to address this crisis, Fertility for Colored Girls + Guys is launching
Hold On to Hope: Infertility and Reproductive Health in the Black Community
, a groundbreaking documentary featuring personal stories from men and women, expert insights, and discussions on health disparities and advocacy efforts; and
WHEREAS, the documentary is a powerful tool to shine a light on the realities of Black reproductive health issues and complements the other work of Fertility for Colored Girls + Guys to promote equitable access to fertility treatments and to advocate for culturally competent reproductive health care across all stages of life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Fertility for Colored Girls + Guys hereby be commended for its work to help Black women and men and members of other communities overcome infertility; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Richmond Chapter of Fertility for Colored Girls + Guys as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's commitment to empowering women and serving families in the Commonwealth and across the United States.
