Commending the James River High School girls' swim and dive team.
WHEREAS, the James River High School girls' swim and dive team won the 200-medley relay in the Virginia High School League Class 2 state championship in Richmond in February 2026; and
WHEREAS, the victory marks the first state championship win in swimming for the James River High School Knights, with teammates Riley Persinger, Sarah Lorman, Lydia Jones, and Kim Van Auken sealing the victory in a true team effort; and
WHEREAS, the “small but mighty” James River Knights placed in several other events, finishing in an impressive sixth place overall as a team; and
WHEREAS, Riley Persinger, Sarah Lorman, Lydia Jones, and Kim Van Auken also placed fifth in the 200 free relay and team members individually placed in numerous events; and
WHEREAS, the victory is a tribute to the skill and determination of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff, and the passionate support of family members, friends, and the entire James River High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the James River High School girls' swim and dive team hereby be commended on winning the 200-medley relay in the Virginia High School League Class 2 state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Kit Williams, head coach of the James River High School girls' swim and dive team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's outstanding athletic achievements.
