WHEREAS, for 23 years, Steve Parks Clinton worked diligently to enhance the quality of life in Botetourt County as a member of the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors, ably representing the Amsterdam District and providing distinguished leadership during multiple terms as board chair; and
WHEREAS, Steve Clinton holds advanced degrees in engineering and finance, including a bachelor's degree from The Citadel, a master's degree from Radford University, and another master's degree from the University of Virginia, reflecting his deep technical expertise and dedication to professional excellence; and
WHEREAS, an accomplished professional engineer and executive, Steve Clinton's career has included senior leadership roles in major engineering and planning firms, notably as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern and as senior vice president and regional director for AECOM's Architecture, Engineering & Planning Group; and
WHEREAS, Steve Clinton's commitment to public service is further exemplified by his more than 25 years of service as a member of the United States Air Force, where he served his country with distinction prior to entering local government, achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel; and
WHEREAS, as a member of the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors, Steve Clinton helped bring new jobs to the community and played an instrumental role in the construction of the Botetourt Sports Complex at Greenfield, the Botetourt-Craig Counties Regional Jail, and the Eagle Rock Library, as well as renovations at James River High School, the Fincastle Library, and the Landfill Convenience Center; and
WHEREAS, throughout his tenure in local government, Steve Clinton was a tireless advocate for historic preservation, actively supporting the Historic Greenfield Preservation Advisory Council and other local preservation efforts; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Steve Clinton, the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors has continued to advance community goals, maintain fiscal responsibility, and support sustainable growth in Botetourt County; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Steve Parks Clinton hereby be commended for his legacy of achievements as a member of the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Steve Parks Clinton as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his longstanding dedication to public service.
