Commending Angela York.
WHEREAS, Angela York, a dedicated nonprofit leader of integrity and vision, has served for 10 years as executive director of THRIVE Peninsula, guiding the organization with compassion, humility, and a steadfast commitment to serving others; and
WHEREAS, THRIVE Peninsula, formerly Denbigh United Christian Outreach, has served families in Newport News, Hampton, and York County since 1973, providing food, financial assistance, and supportive resources to help neighbors navigate hardship and move toward stability; and
WHEREAS, under Angela York's leadership, THRIVE Peninsula broadened its services and community impact, including the opening of the Peninsula's first free grocery store style market and the development of programs offering bilingual support, financial coaching, resource navigation, and educational opportunities for families; and
WHEREAS, through Angela York's thoughtful leadership, THRIVE Peninsula has strengthened partnerships with volunteers, churches, businesses, and civic organizations while expanding services to assist more than 40,000 people annually across the Virginia Peninsula; and
WHEREAS, Angela York's dedication has helped foster a community where compassion, partnership, and service work together to ensure that families across the Virginia Peninsula have the opportunity to thrive; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Angela York hereby be commended for her decade of outstanding leadership as executive director of THRIVE Peninsula and for her significant contributions to the well-being of families across the Virginia Peninsula; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Angela York as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration and appreciation for her service.
