Commending Frank L. Codella.

WHEREAS, Frank L. Codella, a distinguished architect, has achieved tremendous success in his field over a career spanning more than 50 years; and

WHEREAS, after graduating from Montclair High School in Montclair, New Jersey, Frank Codella enlisted in the United States Navy Air Corps in 1944 and served his country with honor and distinction in the Pacific theater during World War II; and

WHEREAS, following his service, Frank Codella earned a degree in architecture from Cornell University in 1949 and was promoted to the rank of ensign in the United States Naval Reserve; and

WHEREAS, Frank Codella began his illustrious, half-century career in architecture as a designer, project manager, and associate partner with major architectural and planning firms in New York, New Jersey, and Ohio; and

WHEREAS, Frank Codella then served as the Administrator for Professional Services for the American Institute of Architects in Washington, D.C., where he advocated tirelessly for the construction industry before members of the United States Congress; and

WHEREAS, in the late 1960s and 1970s, Frank Codella was with Charles Luckman Associates in New York City and Washington, D.C., directing teams of architects on several major projects, including the Xerox corporate headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, the Bell Laboratories Building in Holmdel, New Jersey, and Madison Square Garden in New York City; and

WHEREAS, Frank Codella was later the senior vice president with Tower Development Company, a division of Cyrus Eaton World Trade, Inc., which developed and owned hotels, resorts, housing, and trade centers primarily in Eastern Europe and the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics; and

WHEREAS, in the later years of his career, Frank Codella was a principal architect with several architectural and development firms, overseeing a number of prominent projects; and

WHEREAS, through his leadership, dedication, and vision, Frank Codella has embodied the ideals of the architecture profession, earning the praise and esteem of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Frank L. Codella hereby be commended for his accomplishments as an architect and leader of his industry; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Frank L. Codella as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his achievements and best wishes for his continued success.
